Mahmudiya, South of Iraq, May 12:
An American patrol gets ambushed. 5 soldiers die, 3 get captured. About 4000 U.S. ground troops swarm the area, supported by satellites, surveillance aircraft, helicopters.(1)
The surge turns into a search.
Today, May 14,:
The group „Islamic State in Iraq“ claims responsibility not only for the capturing of the U.S. soldiers – they did so on Sunday, May 13 (2) – but also for two major terror attacks: two „suicide bombings“ on May 9 in the Kurdish capital Erbil (Irbil) (the day when Dick Cheney arrived in Baghdad) and on Sunday in the Kurdish town of Makhmour, which is near to the oil-rich (3) Mosul, but just outside the „autonomous Kurdish region“.
In our latest article „Iraq: terror plot in Kurdistan against US and EU?“ – on May the 11th – we tried to expose, that this so-called „suicide bombing“ in Erbil/Irbil on May 09 could not had been a truck bombing, regarding the simple fact that the explosion had left a huge crater. It´s a question of science theories (former called „physics“) that this must have been the result of a rocket or a mortar impact (4).
We also mentioned, that according to news reports the Kurdish intelligence service expected such an attack.
And yesterday a German paper reported, the second terror attack in Kurdistan – in Makhmour (Machmur) near the headquarter of the „Kurdistan Democratic Party“ (KDP), led by Massoud Barzani, who is also President of Kurdistan – allegedly has been perpetrated by „a man in Iraqi Military uniform“ who was driving a jeep that was „prepared with explosives“ („mit Sprengstoff präparierten Geländewagen“). (7)
So, let´s get immediately to the most simple and most important question in war:
What´s going on?
„THE ISLAMIC STATE IN IRAQ“
It is already published, but not widely known, that the leader of this „Al Qaeda/al-Qaida/“ in Iraq is, according to independent researchers, in fact the salafist Khalid al-Mashhadani.
He is using the wide-spread pseudonym „Abu Omar al-Baghdadi“.
This „Caliph“ of „Al Qaeda/al-qaida“ has broken up school and belongs to the traditionally salafist tribe of Mashhadanis (plural Mushahiddeh, in Arabic) as also do Iraq`s Vice President, Tariq al-Hashemi, and the Speaker of the Parliament, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, who are the leading Sunnis in the Iraqi government. (5)
This quite interesting research also says, „the Mashhadanis were influenced very early on by Salafism through Ibrahim Khalil Ibrahim al-Mashhadani (a very distant familial relation to Khalid) who formed a clandestine Salafist organization in Iraq in the late 1970s that had some links with the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood and with Saudi Arabia. This organization may have been used at one point by Saddam‘s intelligence service as an arms and money conduit to the Syrian MB.“
The report also says, that „Khalid al-Mashhadani`s name and the locations of some of the Islamic State of Iraq`s HQs in Baghdad were revealed to the Iraqi government by other jihadist groups that have recently had a falling out with Al-Qaeda.“
And, as we do know, salafist militias and mercenaries – and the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria – benefitted from Saudi money and U.S. support.
That´s what Seymour Hersh found out and published in March. (6)
THE POWER STRUGGLE IN KURDISTAN
First of all, the oldest and influential network of human kind is the familiy.
Now let´s have a look at the situation in Kurdistan and in Iraq.
Two parties have been fighting for power for decades, the „Kurdistan Democratic Party“ (KDP) and the „Patriotic Union of Kurdistan“ (PUK), which split from them in 1975.
Founder and present chief of the PUK is Jalal Talabani, who is also the current President of Iraq.(8)
President of Kurdistan – which is, in fact, an independent state, despite the fact noone talks about that – is Massoud Barzani, who is also the leader of the KDP. (30)
The Prime Minister of Kurdistan is Barzani´s nephew, Nechervan Idris Barzani, who is married to the daughter of Massoud Barzani, Nabila Barzani. (31)
Massoud (Massud) Barzani asked Saddam for help reclaiming back Erbil/Irbil from Talabani and his PUK in 1995, and Saddam did.
On May 12, the day the U.S. patrol got ambushed in Mahmudiya, nephew Nechirvan Barzani helds a speech in Irbil/Erbil, three days after dozens died there, and guess where?
At a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a five-star luxury hotel complex, organized by the general manager of Kempinski Hotels, Mr. Michael Sorgenfrey, along with members of the Elegan Group – from Turkey. (10)
The Park Hotel is being financed by investors through the Turkish Elegan Group and will be managed by Kempinski Hotels.
Also present: Mr. Paul Brinkley from the US Department of Defense with his „business delegation“.
Nephew Nechirvan Barzani, who is accidentally also Prime Minister of Kurdistan:
„I also welcome the Elegan Group and their delegation, investors from Turkey. A warm welcome to you.“
I´m touched. Wouldn´t they invade from Turkey?
„Your attendance here today is a very strong message of support for our serious efforts to rebuild our country. Projects such as this are our response to the destructive activities of terrorists. Whatever they do, the terrorists cannot stop our progress..
Fortunately, we have the wealth that flows beneath our feet. Oil and gas will contribute to our financial security.“
Ah, here we go.
„We believe that decentralisation of oil and gas management in accordance with a federal system will generate higher benefits to be equitably shared by all Iraqis. We cannot, and must not, ever forget the extraordinary abuse we have suffered from excessive centralisation of political and economic power.“
Okay, what´s Nephew Barzani saying? He says:
„We´ve got the oil and we keep it. Before selling it to the good old West, of course…“
Also present is „Mr.Saba“. This is very likely Aladdin Saba, sent there by the king of the .. sent there by AmCham, the American Chamber of Commerce, where he is a member of. (9)
He is also President, a founder and member of the Egyptian Investment Management Association, a founder and member of the Egyptian Capital Markets Association, a member of the British Egyptian Business Association, a member of the Egyptian Businessmen`s Association and head of its Stock Exchange committee.
Aladdin Saba has also been a member of the Board of Directors of The Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange for three consecutive years.
The Prime Nephew of Kurdistan, Nechirvan Barzani, is uttering quite friendly words about him that day.
„The attack that targeted the city of Irbil (Erbil) was expected, despite the intense security operations in recent days. We had intelligence information that terrorist groups had plans to disrupt security and to bring the instability of Baghdad and central Iraq to Kurdistan,“
a high-level Kurdish source told the Italian Aki News 3 days before, on May 9. (11)
Didn´t that source tell anyone else in Kurdistan? And what does that mean, bring from Baghdad to Kurdistan? Bring it from Talabani to Barzani? Then why is his Nephew playing the game, to?
Let´s read further comments on that:
„In addition to the observations of Kurdish intelligence, the source also said that many of those recently arrested confessed of schemes to destabilize Kurdistan, Aki News reports.
„Large quantities of weapons and explosives“ were discovered in Kurdistan in recent days, the security source said. Kurdish intelligence officials initially believed that these were destined to be smuggled into the rest of Iraq, but later investigations revealed that they were intended for operations inside Kurdish territory, the agency reports.
`Add to this the movements of some terrorist organizations near the Kurdish-Iranian border, in which some of our border posts were attacked several times, these indications provided us with intelligence to expect today`s attacks, and we expect other attempts along these lines,` the Kurdish security source continued.
Without naming parties involved, the security source also criticized `attempts to make changes in sensitive security positions in Sulaymaniya.`
The leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, headed by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, is implementing changes in the security apparatus around Sulaymaniya, Aki News explains, removing security officials who belong to a rival faction within the PUK, led by Noshirwan Mustafa, who lost the party leadership elections to Talabani several months ago.“
Okay, what do we have?
We have a power struggle in the PUK between the chief Talabani, who is also President of Iraq, and somebody who is called Noshirwan Mustafa.
Who´s that?
