Now, I am certainly not a friend of the Republicain lately, especially after a decade of deceit, Wars, and Manipulations by the Bush Administration.
However, All animosities aside, I followed the US campaign closely, including all the mod slinging and insults that may come around from either side without discrimination nor scruples.
As I washed the Sarah Palin speech and the conventions reaction, I have to admit that the Republican Party did some great PR work and even though her speech was rather simple and lacked real political contend, it was the sort of speech America likes to hear and trust in.
She spoke well and with confidence, unshaken by recent events or accusations. Her Family behind her in a happy united manner as America loves it. „We stand as one, no matter what may be thrown at us,“ This is what America wants to see and hear even if the words are never spoken as such, it is the symbol, the image that tells it all.
Mc Cain showing up at the end, embracing the Kids and Palin was a display of Family symbolism and unity even in crisis. Well played, using a blow to their own advantage by playing on Family values.
Even though those values may be far from reality, America like its fairy tails and happy endings a la Hollywood. Like a good old Cinderella movie or Dean Martin movie, it was simply perfect.
The American dream of happy families united after a fight and making up on a sunny afternoon over a nice BBQ with friends and nabbers alike. Of course all where there, even the National anthem, carefully orchestrated so that no one could feel left out, Man, Woman, Youth, Black, White, Hispanic, it was perfect.
Who would not want a great Mom, even though not perfect maybe, yet so self less and loving, even forgiving towards her children and future Son in Law. And John Mc Cain the Good old Grand Dad, in matter of speaking, that hugs them all and stands by them in times of adversity. This is America at its best and the way America loves it.
I am sorry to say this, but from what I saw today, I have to admit, I was mistaken. The Republican will win this election and leave Obama and his team in the shadow. Mc Cain and Palin played the right cards and they played them well. I keep underestimating the American love for this sort of Fairy tale.
If this keeps up the Republican will be elected to the White House once more and even if it may hurt the US and the World, it will not mater, for this is what America loves and believes in. The American Dream will prevail, no matter the cost or reality.
